News 3 Sports would like to congratulate our latest Classroom Champion, Tate Hartley. The Buffalo High School senior has a 4.03 GPA, and is currently ranked third in his class.

Tate is a member of the football, basketball, baseball, and power lifting teams. In basketball he was 1st Team All-District selection. He was also received All-District honors on football and baseball. Tate is the president of his senior class, a member of the National Honor Society, FFA, Spanish Club, UIL, and Student Council. Tate has won the Top Student Award in Modern History, and he has been commended on the English, math, science, and social studies portions of the TAKS test.

"Tate is very driven. He has a big heart. He wants to put in 100 percent into everything that he does; to make sure that he succeeds and that his team succeeds. I think Tate's leadership from basketball and football leads over to the classroom as him being a good example. He is one that does his work without a problem, and the other students see him doing that, and they look up to him. So they want to succeed in the classroom as well; because he is a good athlete, as well as good at his academics.

"Tate is a phenomenal leader. He works hard every day, he comes to work every day and does everything you ask of him. I'm proud to know him; I'm glad he's a part of our team. He's not scared to vocalize what needs to be done; what need to be said. He has a knack of saying the right thing at the right time, to get his teammates motivated to achieve success. He builds them up but at the same time get s them going the right direction."

"I was never blessed with the most natural ability. So I kind of have to work a little bit harder to be even with everyone else. God gives everyone a telnet, but it's in our own hands to kind of develop it on our own. I push myself hard to be successful, and hopefully it rubs off on my teammates."

Tate plans on attending Texas State University to study Physical Therapy.

Congratulations to Tate Hartley of Buffalo High School. This week's News 3 Sports Classroom Champion!
