News 3 Sports would like to congratulate our latest Classroom Champion, Jon Colburn. The Burton High School senior has a 3.9 GPA, and is currently the valedictorian of his class.

Jon has also been on the distinguished honor roll his entire high school career. He's also very busy in his community and in his church's youth group.
"Jon's a hard worker. I think he' motivated by a lot of reasons. But I think he has a lot of self motivation to be very successful in life. He knows what it takes to be successful, he understands that...He very dedicated, he works extremely hard toward those goals, and he has goals. We're very proud of him over here...Jon is motivated by himself
"His Grades will show you that he juggles things quit nicely. Late nights from practice, late nights from games; he gets his job done on the classroom. Very intelligent young man...At the same time, a young man that knows how to juggle many responsibilities. He not only plays football, but hes involved in other activities in the school. And I think he does a great job of juggling all that and being successful in each and every asset of his life."
"Well by team captain and as a quarterback, you gotta know that even when things are going bad you gotta be the on that's like the rock that holds everybody together. So, when the other teams scoring or your not converting on first down or something like that...You gotta be the one to pick everybody up, and making sure everybody's staying true to there team, staying pimped up. Getting motivated, and let them know that you're gonna come out there and do good."
Jon has has already been accepted to Texas A&M University's, Mays Business School. He will attend there next fall, and major in Accounting. And he also plans to pursue a Masters in Management Information Systems.
Congratulations to Jon Colburn Burton High School. This week's News 3 Sports Classroom Champion!
