News 3 Sports would like to congratulate our latest Classroom Champion Caitlyn Blakey. The Burton High School senior currently has a 3.7 grade point average, and is the currently the valedictorian of her class.

Caitlyn is a member of the volleyball, basketball, and softball teams. She was selected All-District and All-Academic in all three sports her entire high school career. Caitlyn is also an officer and member of the Beta Club and she’s the Senior Class President. Caitlyn is very involved with her church and her school.

“Caitlyn has never shied away from hard work. Especially is pre-cal and now calculus. She works for every answer…She tries to do all of her homework and all the class work that is assigned to her. She still maintains all of her grades; and I know that she plays all of the sports she does. Caitlyn’s a lead by example person. She definitely walks the walk and does exactly what she supposed to do when she’s asked of it.”, said Jonathan Purvis, Math Teacher

“Caitlyn is very self-motivated. She is one that everybody else seems to be down on the court, she continues to stay up. And she continues not only to be motivated, but to motivate others. On the court, the girls look up to her. She is their leader, and she’s the one on the court that brings high energy when their down. When we’re down a few points Caitlyn is the one that picks them back up, and they expect that from her, and they get that from her.”, said Katie Cloud, Head Volleyball Coach

“I just kind of grew up knowing you do your best, good things will come out of it. As far as I can remember, I’ve been giving everything I’ve done my all, and it’s worked out pretty well. Being a leader on the court…I’ve always felt like I’ve been a leader. I felt like I’ve always had leader qualities. And it’s really fun to me…being a leader.”, said Caitlyn Blakey, High School Senior, Burton High School

Caitlyn plans on attending Texas A&M University or Sam Houston State University and is still undecided about her major.
