It’s time now to crown another Classroom Champion and this week we congratulate Zach Slaydon of Bryan High School.
News 3 Sports would like to congratulate our latest Classroom Champion Zach Slaydon. The Bryan High School senior has a 4.5 Grade Point Average and he’s ranked in the top two percent of his class.
Zach is a member of the of baseball and football teams. He was selected 1st Team All Disctrict in baseball. Zach plays linebacker, defensive end, and punter for the Vikings. He's also is a member of FCA, and Zack is active in his church's youth group. Academically, Zach won the award for Most Outstanding English Student.
“Zach personifies the ideal student athlete. He has integrity, he's committed to academics. Including taking the hardest courses we have to offer, such as BC Calculus. He excells in class. Zach has got a desire to be the best. It's not something that anybody puts on him, it's what Zach does himself. He puts on that he's going to be the best. Whether it's on the football field, or the baseball stadium, or in the classroom. He always wants to do a complete job.”
“Zach's not the most vocal person, but when he does talk they listen. He understands the seroiousness...If you're going to be successful you've got to practice hard. And I think that's what he brings is he comes to practice, ready to practice hard. He's a senior, so we've got sophomores and juniors around him, and they see how he reacts to the good and the bad. When you have the maturity of a senior, especially one like Zach, it's a plus for everybody.”
“I like being a scholar athlete, it just keeps my schedule busy. If I have too much time to do stuff or if I'm not doing stuff I get bored. So I really keep myself busy. As a leader, I really don't like to be the guy that gets up in your face and yells a lot. I like to just lead by example. I hope everybody see's how I'm doing stuff and follows me that way.”
Zach plans on attending college and majoring in Biomedical Engineering.
Congratulations to Zach Slaydon of Bryan High School. This week’s News 3 Sports Classroom Champion!
