News 3 Sports would like to congratulate our latest Classroom Champion Stonie Guthrie. The Milano High School senior has a 4.6 Grade Point Average, and is currently the valedictorian of her class.

“All the students I know respect Stonie so much. And she's admired by almost every student that you come across. Especially the little girls here in Milano. They really look up to her. And even my own daughter says mamma, I want to be like Stonie when I grow up. Like I said, no only on the court, or in the classroom, or on the stage. It's just Stonie being Stonie. And everybody loves her for it.”, Susan Meyer, OAP Director/Teacher

Stonie is a member of the volleyball, basketball and softball teams. In volleyball she was selected First and Second Team All-District. Stonie was also selected to the All Brazos Valley Academic Team and she also received the MVP of the District honors.

In basketball, she was a Honorable Mention All-District pick, and in softball she was a First Team All-District selection.

Stonie is the president and a member of the National Honor Society. She's also a member of One Act Play, Student Council, and the Yearbook staff.

This school year, she is the president of the Milano Thespian Performing Arts Company. Stonie has also earned All Star cast and Best actress in the district honors. Stonie is very committed to volunteer work, her community and her school.

“Well Stonie is a well rounded girl. She works hard in practices. And she comes off the court and she goes straight to the books. She works hard everyday. She is committed to her team and committed to her school. But she really has a sweet side. She's a killer on the court but a softie off the court. She's all around! She's a great kig to have on your team.”, Catrina Steinbecker, Assistant Volleyball Coach

“My success isn't important as the teams success. And how well we do together is more important than how I do. So I want ti do my best to show the team that they have something to look up to. I would definitely say I am a leader by example, because I don't feel like telling my teammates is going to make them better. I feel like how I play influences how they play. If I'm playing bad then they see that. And If I just sit there and tell them that they need to do better, and I never do better...Then they have don't have anything to go by.”, Stonie Guthrie, Milano High School Senior

Stonie plans on attending Texas A&M University and majoring in Telecommunications Media Studies.

Congratulations to Stonie Guthrie of Milano High School. This week’s News 3 Sports Classroom Champion!
