News 3 Sports would like to congratulate our latest classroom champion Megan Rollins. The Burton High School senior has stayed on the Distinguished Honor Roll and she's ranked third in her senior class with a 3.7 GPA.
Megan is a member of the Beta Club, Mu Alpha Theta, and FFA. She's also a member of the volleyball, track, and softball teams, and was selected to First Team All District in all three sports. She also referee's basketball games for the Optimist Club and she gives pitching lessons to the youth in her community.
Johnathan Purvis Burton Calculus Teacher, "Megan's active in athletics, she's also an active student in the classroom. She works really hard on a daily basis. I've had her now, last year in Pre-Calculus, this year in Calculus and she's a really good student. She fights for everything. She fights for the last point on the test, she fights for the last point on her homework. She wants to know why everything is going on. She doesn't just want the answer, she wants to know why it works. I think that carries over on the court because she's fighting for every single point they play for.
Megan Lestourgeon, Lady Panther Head Volleyball Coach, "She's one of my senior leaders. She's an outstanding young woman, and she's been in my program for three years. She works incredibly hard, if I need something from her, I know I can always depend on her. Not only does she lead on the floor, she leads off the floor by being a great example in the classroom, taking classes at Blinn and doing as much as she can extracurricularly.
Congratulations to Megan Rollins of Burton. This week's News 3 Sports Classroom Champion!
