News 3 Sports would like to congratulate our latest classroom champion Julynn Clayton. The Caldwell High School student is ranked seventeenth in her senior class with a 3.4 GPA; she received Academic Recognition on her TAKS test, and she was also selected to the 2010 Academic All District Team.
Julynn is a member of the National Honor Society, BPA, her church youth group and the Spanish Club. She's also a member the of volleyball, cross-country teams, and was selected to the All Regional Team in both sports. Julynn is enrolled in AP classes and is on the Distinguished Graduation Plan. She's ceritified in First Aid, and in her spare time she is active in her community and works at Dairy Queen.
"I've known Julynn for 4 years. I originally taught her as a freshman, taking Pre-AP Geometry. She was an excellent student, very, very bright, I've seen her grow…I've seen her mature, not only in the academic world but also in athletics. This year she's a senior, I've her in my AP Statistics course…She's an excellent young lady!"
"On the court, Julynn definitely leads by example. She's that spark plug for us that is gonna get our kill. She's not always the vocal person on the court…But she is definitely the person who helps the team chemistry. She's able to work with every person on the court…And just makes everybody excited to play!"
"I run cross country, I play volleyball and I work hard in school. My main goal is to get a scholarship and go to college playing volleyball." "I feel like it's important that I be a role model for younger people looking at me. And to show colleges and other people looking at me that I am positive…And I try to be the best I can be at all times!" Julynn plans on attending college to continue her volleyball career and pursue a degree in Business.
Congratulations to Julynn Clayton of Caldwell High School. This week's News 3 Sports Classroom Champion.
