News 3 Sports would like to congratulate our latest classroom champion Hunter Beck. The Brazos Christian senior has a 4.15 grade point average and has received maybe awards for his academic achievements. Hunter was nominated for and will attend the National Student Leadership Conference in New York this summer, as well as the Young Entrepreneurs Seminar in Washing D.C. He has received departmental awards in both math and science, is the NHS Chaplin and serves on the Honor Council.

"I think Hunter has a lot of good instincts just in social interactions and in academics. He takes ownership for his education. If he doesn't understand something in class, he'll come talk to me afterwards. He takes the initiative to make sure he understands everything, that's he's performing as well as he can and I think that's a great instinct to have and to carry into life, whether it is in college later or even further down the road at a job - just taking the initiative and being responsible, finding the answer to things, chasing down solutions," said Hunter's teacher Chris Ross.

Athletically, Hunter plays for the football. basketball, tennis and golf for The Eagles. He received the sportsmanship award in tennis also helps out with Summer sports camps.

Hunter's Coach, Coach Bringman, and the following to say: "Hunter is one of those kids that is where he's supposed to be, when he's supposed to be there, all of the time. He's a good athlete, but on paper, he doesn't jump out at you, until you get him on a field or a court or something like that - then he's just a player. He shows up and I think he's got like two or three interceptions this year already. He's just always where he's supposed to be."

"For me, the leadership I try to provide is really just a servant leadership. There are leaders that are quiet and they show hard work and there are leaders that really pump up the crowd. I really try to be someone who does it and doesn't just say it and that way people can follow my example," said Hunter.

Hunter plans on attending Texas A&M University and major in Sports Management.Congratulations to Hunter Beck of Brazos Christian School. This week's News 3 Sports Classroom Champion.
