News 3 Sports would like to congratulate our latest classroom champion James Brien. The Allen Academy senior is ranked at the top of his senior class and was selected to the TAPPS Academic All-State team.
James is a member of the football, cross country, soccer, basketball, golf and track and field teams. He was selected 1st Team All District in soccer, cross country, and football. James is also the President of the Student Council, an AP Scholar, a National Merit Semi-finalist, and a member of the National Society of High School Scholars. He's also active in his community with charities, his church, and being a volunteer fireman in Hearne.
"What I like about James is that he is very humble. He's not shy, but he's humble. And that is how he takes his leadership, very seriously. I can ask him to take over and keep order in class, and James will do just that."
"James Brien is a senior this year. He's been a starter every since I've been here. This is my third year at Allen Academy. He's been a starting quarterback for at least two years now, and his leadership is invaluable on the field and off the field. He's our leading tackler,,,and as a starting quarterback you always gotta be a vocal leader on the 'field…And he does that for us.
"Well, I know I have to set a good example on the football field, so I always try to give my best. And that really helps out in the classroom and everywhere else. You have to always give your best, give a hundred percent and it just helps me to know I have to focus and work hard."
"It's pretty easy….There has to be somebody to help rally the troops and get us prepared and focused and help us stay on task…So it's pretty natural….Sometimes I have to try and be more vocal with our team, and help lead a little more, but it's usually pretty easy."
James plans on attending Texas A&M University to further his education.
Congratulations to James Brien of Allen Academy. This week's News 3 Sports Classroom Champion!
