News 3 Sports would like to congratulate our latest classroom champion Brice Jarzombek. The Leon High School senior has a 3.65 Grade point average and ranks third in his class.

Brice is the starting center for the Leon Cougar football team. He 'was voted Honorable Mention Center of his district, Brice also selected to the Academic All District team and 2nd Team All Brazos Valley Academic team. Brice also participates in UIL Mathematics, 4H and he's a member of the National Honor Society.

"Brice is very good at doing lab situations. He does a good job of being the leader in a lab situation....and continuing on with the work he has to do in class and getting the job done. He's also a leader in his attributes, of just who he is in school. People look up to him, and that's an important feature."

"Well, Brice is our only returning senior starter on our offensive line. Having to rebuild our offensive line, we've really have leaned a lot on Brice to be our coach on the field. Brice is extremely extremely smart, he knows every position on the field. Coming out of the huddle that really helps us with him being able to go to the line and make all of our line calls...Get our offensive line adjusted, lined up properly.

"Being a Center you gotta be a little smart player. You gotta be like a coach on the field. You gotta know all of the players positions, alignments. You gotta read the defense, make sure people are lined up...Know the snap count. You gotta make calls for the line; be like the leader."

"Being the only senior returning lineman I gotta set a good example at practice and games. Show the younger players how we do it when no ones watching, when no ones around. You gotta have good character, gotta work hard n the classroom, weight room, practice field, everywhere you go."

Brice plans on attending Texas A&M University to become a Petroleum Engineer.
