Classroom Champions 12/15 - Bobby Cyrus

It’s time now to crown another Classroom Champion and this week we congratulate Bobby Cyrus of Calvert High School.

News 3 Sports would like to congratulate our latest classroom champion Bobby Cyrus. The Calvert High School senior has been on the Honor Roll since the 1st grade, and he's currently ranked number one in his class.

Bobby is the Captain of the football team, and also the starting point guard for the basketball team. He was selected 2nd Team All District in Football as a safety…1st Team All District on Special Teams. And he was also selected 2nd Team All District in basketball, and he was also voted Most Improved in basketball. Bobby's also a member of the National Honor Society, FFA, and UIL Academics. He's very active with charities and organizations in his community and he loves showing hogs.

“I've known Bobby since he was in seventh grade. He's a really good kid, really responsible. He's become a really good leader…A phenomenal athlete, both football and basketball. The thing I like about him best is…When he was younger he was your typical seventh grader. He was kind of honary, mischievous but he's become a really good person, a really good leader, good role model. He makes these kids do what he knows is right, and expects a lot out of them when we're trying to something done. And all around he's a good kid."

“I've been knowing Bobby about the last three years since I've been here in Calvert. One thing I like about Bobby Cyrus us he's one of the most competitive kids I've ever been around…He's tough, very smart, a well coachable kid." "He's one of those kids, every once in a while I have to reel him in. But for the most part he's going to pretty much control everything. Because he wants to be the boss, he always wants to control everything. He loves being my point guard because I let him be the coach out there."

“My name is Bobby, I'm from Calvert! I'm a straight A student, I play sports…I'm a leader on the court; a leader off the court…I do all my work." My parents everyone in the community, everybody, they drive me to be able to be the best I can be, and that's what I do."

Bobby plans on attending Prairie View A&M University and majoring in Nursing.

Congratulations to Bobby Cyrus of Calvert High School. This week’s News 3 Sports Classroom Champion!
