It’s time now to crown another Classroom Champion and this week we congratulate Jill Sikes of Brenham High School.
News 3 Sports would like to congratulate our latest classroom champion Jill Sikes. The Brenham High School senior has a 4.03 Grade Point Average and is ranked in the top ten percent of her class.
Jill is the team captain of the volleyball team and the starting catcher on the softball team. She was a 1st Team All District selection and the Defensive MVP in both sports. Jill also helped the Lady Cubs reach the playoffs in volleyball and softball. She also made the Academic All District team as a freshman. Academically, Jill is a member of the National Honor Society, the Spanish Club, Interact Club, FCA, and the Student Council. Jill is also very active at her church and in her school.
“Jill is in my food science class. She's also a member of the NHS society. And shes an excellent athlete. She plays both volleyball and softball. I have been taking pictures of her for years. I cover a lot of the sports here and take pictures as a hobby. I've enjoyed watching Jill over the years mature on the field and also on the court. As I have her in class now, I've just grown to know what a wonderful girl she is. She has a lot of leadership abilities...She's very dedicated to her studies and also her sports...And she's very very competitive, and I just love having her.”
“Jill’s a senior for us! Catcher…Four year starter…Incredible leader! This is my first year having the opportunity to coach her. Out of my nine previous years, Jill maybe one of the top catchers I’ve ever coached.” “She just has a strong work ethic. She has the desire to succeed in everything that she does. She has a great home life, great parental support…And it’s just very evident in her personality and her desire to be successful.”
“I’m Jill Sikes! I go to Brenham High School; I’m a senior. I play volleyball and softball. I’ve been on varsity for both sports for four years now.” “Schoolwork is really important to me, you have to get that done first before it comes to sports. I always try to get my homework done before I have to go. Hard work and dedication is pretty much what it comes down to me. You always have to strive to do your best. We’re working for a state championship right now, so I’m trying to work hard for that.”
Jill plans on attending Hendrix College, and majoring in Education to one day become a coach.
Congratulations to Jill Sikes of Brenham High School!
