News 3 Sports would like to congratulate our latest Classroom Champion, Hannah Holsey. The Lovelady Senior has a 4.72 Grade Point Average and ranks 3rd in her class. Hannah is active in the MLH Cancer Foundation, FCA, UIL and Student Council. She shows cutting horses and placed 5th in her division at the American Quarter Horse Youth World Show and qualified for the state show in High School Rodeo.
Her teacher Paul Pliler says, "She's just real conscientious about making sure she gets everything right. She's very personable, very friendly, very well liked and I think that helps her lead her classmates in doing things. Her peers respect her and like her and that enables her to lead in the classroom and I think she has a real good future because of that."
Athletically, Hannah plays Varsity Softball and was a Varsity Cheerleader for two years. She's received all-district honors each year, including second team all-district second base and academic all district.
Lovelady Head Softball Coach James Price says Hannah is a rock. "Everything you ask, she's that solid player that you can build around. Whenever something goes wrong, when everything's good, when everything's bad. She's the same person no matter what. She's a steady, solid rock. Whenever anything needs to be done, they look at her as a role model. She's not that vocal, but whatever needs to be done, she does it and they can look at her and say 'Ok, that's the way it needs to be done.'"
Hannah says, "By encouragement is the way that I lead. I try to encourage the other girls and not bring them down at all. The most important thing I have to say is to give it all of your effort. One hundred percent all of the time. If you want to be good at something, you have to practice, put a lot of time and effort into it. Those are the most important things."
Hanna plans on attending Texas A&M University and majoring in Chemistry this fall.
Congratulations to Hannah Holsey of Lovelady High School, this week's News 3 Sports Classroom Champion.
