It’s time now to crown another Classroom Champion and this week we congratulate Lance Graul of Bryan High School.
News 3 Sports would like to congratulate our latest classroom champion Lance Graul. The Bryan High School senior is currently ranked third in his class.
Lance is a member of the football team and the Viking Band. Lance is also a member of the National Honor Society and the Latin Club. Lance has won several academic awards in his high school career. Such as the National Latin Exam Silver medal, English Award, ant the Physics and Chemistry Awards.
“Well in our classes...relatively small, and it's a tight group, and they've known each other for along time. So, they take turns in different leadership roles. Lance I would say leads the class in terms of academics, and setting the bar for the rest of the class to follow. In larger classes where I've also seen him. He also as a lot of personal presence and I think commands a lot of respect from his peers, and that contributes too."
“Lance is a great kid! He's played football in our program for four years. He's one of those guys that you need in front of the offensive line. He has to make calls at center and he has to recognize defenses. He does a great job of understanding the nature of the game. He also has a great sense of humor. He really does a good job of relating to kids and coaches when we're out here practicing and during the game.”
“Being a scholar athlete, football is definitely takes up the majority of your time after school. Especially with having to do band as well in the morning. You really have to focus on your studies when you get home. With classes like Calculus, BC, and Latin you really have to be able to manage your time wisely when you get home. And that's just one of the things I've had to work on.”
Lance is still undecided on what University he will attend, but he plans on majoring in bio-medical engineering.
Congratulations to Lance Graul of Bryan High School. This week’s News 3 Sports Classroom Champion!
