News 3 Sports would like to congratulate our latest Classroom Champion, Kaitlyn Lampley. The Rudder High School senior has a 4.23 Grade Point Average and ranks fourth in her class. Kaitlyn is a member of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes, National Honor Society and the National American Trail Ride Conference. She is active in her Church's youth group, the Ranger Platoon and sings in the school choir.
"You see that positive attitude and that positive force that is Kaitlyn Lampley infect the people around her," says teacher David Bailey. "I honestly think that the people that she interacts with on a day-to-day basis are a little bit more positive themselves, as a result. Life is not just about them, it's about the people around them, too and to have someone that models that well in the classroom environment is a very positive thing."
Athletically, Kaitlyn plays volleyball and soccer. She is the goalie for the Ranger Soccer team and was named most valuable defensive player. She was also named Academic All District and received the Ranger Heart Award for her leadership on the volleyball court.
"When we started out here three years ago, we didn't have a goalie. It was literally out at practice 'Has anyone played goalie before?' and Kaitlyn immediately said, 'I'll try it, I played when I was little.' That's just a great picture of the kind of girl she is- just willing to do whatever you need in order to be successful," says Lady Ranger Head Soccer Coach Nate Hutchinson.
"Being the oldest, you rally have to step up and fill that position. When you're younger you feel like you can't do that, but once you're put in the position, you just have to learn to grow up and step up in a lot of different ways. There are so many responsibilities, but I feel like it's made me more prepared for what comes next," says Kaitlyn.
Kaitlyn plans on attending Texas A&M University and majoring in Biology. Congratulations to Kaitlyn Lampley of Rudder High school This week's News 3 Sports Classroom Champion.
