News 3 Sports would like to congratulate our latest classroom champion Maeson Mondrik. The Cameron Yoe High School senior made the 27AA All Academic Team and she's ranked Tenth in her senior class.
Maeson is a member of the National Honor Society, Student Council, FCA , Floral and Czech Clubs. She's also a part of the cheerleading squad, volley ball, track and softball teams. She's also active in the "Read to Succeed Program," where she reads to the elementary kids in her community.
"In the short amount of time I've been here…Knowing that I have a student receiving an award like this…I feel that it's a great honor to be a teacher of a student that's receiving an award like this."
"I think Maeson's leadership and her strengths as a mature an very intelligent young lady has helped her. She's the first one at practice, the last on to leave…I think she approaches everything that way! Whether it's her classroom work, her track workout, or her volleyball workout, she gives it her all."
"For volleyball, I think I have learned to be a leader on the court. Also, that helps in the classroom…If one of my peers needs help, I am able to help them in the classroom.
"Recently I have just started helping tutoring younger students at the elementary age. We also do a program, that's "Read to Succeed!" A couple of the weeks, on Fridays we go and we read to the elementary students and we spend an hour of our day…and I enjoy that a lot."
Maeson plans on attending Texas A&M University in College Station where will major in Education.
Congratulations to Maeson Mondrik of Cameron Yoe High High School. This week's News 3 Sports Classroom Champion.
