News 3 Sports would like to congratulate our latest classroom champion Landon Evans. The St. Joseph Catholic School senior has a 3.8 grade point average, is a member of National Honor Society, Future Farmers of America and a member of the Business Professionals of America and is a Commended National Merit Scholar.

"Having him here at the school, he's just a great kid to have here. He's an example to everyone else as a senior the leadership that he exudes to everyone in the classroom, the way he participates, the way he's able to get everything done on time. He's just that true leader that each person in the classroom can look to, whether its in the classroom, on the field, extracurricular activites he's involved in. everybody's looking to see, what's Landon doing, that's kind of the example that's the level I need to be at right now.

Athletically, Landon plays football, basketball, baseball, tennis and runs track. He was selected to Max Emfinger's High School Fottball Catholic All American Team and will also be playing in the All American Bowl Classic football game in Baton Rouge, LA on December 31st.

Landon has been a great addition athletically and to our school. He's a tremendous young man. Athletically, he's great on the football field, he's great on the basketball court and most importantly he's great in the classroom. Landon brings a tremendous work ethic, he works hard in the classroom, weight room in football and on the basketball court. I wish all people could work like he does.

I just try to set an example by my actions and also motivation for my teammates to be able to show them about hard work and the rewards that come from giving effort in everything you do.

I think sports are a great thing because they teach you about hard work, and as you go through life, it's your hard work that helps you achieve success, and sports are a great example of how that success is created by your diligence and fortitude.

Landon plans on attending Rice University to major in Business after graduation.
