Time now to crown another Classroom Champion. And for this weeks honor we head to Magnolia High School to congratulate Paige Holland.
News 3 Sports would like to congratulate our latest classroom champion, Paige Holland. The Magnolia senior has a 4.0 Grade point average and ranks 5th in her class.
Paige is a leader in Fellowship of Christian Athletes, president of the principal's advisory committee, and the senior class historian. Outside of school, she volunteers as a camp counselor and was a finalist for the Magnolia Rotary Youth Leadership Award.
"She's one of the leaders in the class academically. She maintains an extremely high average in very difficult content. I think she could absolutely do anything she wanted to do."
Athletically, Paige is a four-year varsity starter in volleyball and was first team all-district in golf. She currently holds the state record for most career assists and is ranked third in the nation overall. Paige has been named to the first all-district and academic all-district teams, as well as the Texas Sports Writers Association first team and has been honored with athletic awards including state Setter of the Year.
"She's got it going on. She's intelligent, she came in every single day and really got the respect of the girls at the beginning when she was a freshman and that lingered with her for four years of volleyball. She learned early on to set some goals for herself and really go after those goals, and step by step she's done that."
And it's those goals that have lead Paige to be a leader on and off the court.
"I think being a leader you're supposed to lead not only with your words but with your actions, so every day I just try to be a positive role model for everyone around me, and hopefully I succeed at that and show everybody the person they need to be like. That's my goal."
Paige plans on attending Stephen F. Austin State University on scholarship and majoring in elementary education.
Congratulations to Paige Holland of Magnolia High School. This week's News 3 Sports Classroom Champion.
