News 3 Sports would like to congratulate our latest classroom champion Taylor Tucker. The A&M Consolidated High School senior has a 3.69 Grade point average.
She is a member of the National Honor Society, Key Club and received the US Academic Achievement award.
"She is one of my very best students. She's an Honor's student. She's enrolled in the honor's section of introduction to medicine. She has many extracurricular activities as you know, she is a very talented Basketball athlete. All the things she has to do, all the time she might miss with sports and other events, she's always up to date on her work. She is just a great person on and off the basketball court."
Athletically, Taylor plays basketball for the Lady Tigers. She is one of the top players in her position in the district at the 5A level and has also received All-State honors in both 1A at Oakwood and 3A at Rudder.
"I think she's very determined. I think she has a high level of confidence in her ability. I think Taylor isn't worried about conforming to the group norms or the moirees, she's gonna do the right thing and lead our team the direction it needs to go. I think she's done that at many levels."
"Basketball is life for me, so you learn things. It's not just getting on the court and just playing. You have to learn discipline and you have learn how to put a commitment in to something. So, as far as life, it help me be more committed, it helps me have a little more intensity in everything I do and it just make me focus a lot more. You just have to focus in everything you do. And you memorize in basketball, so that helps a lot too."
Taylor will continue playing basketball on a scholarship to University of Louisiana at Lafayette and will pursue a major in exercise medicine.
Congratulations to Taylor Tucker of A&M Consolidated High School. This week's News 3 Sports Classroom Champion.
