"She pays great attention to detail. She completes everything as fast as she can and she does everything that we ask her to do...I think a perseverance, will to complete the task. She gets that from her cross country training. The goal is not right around the corner, it's around the bend and you have to keep working to achieve that goal"
Athletically, Yannete runs cross country and had her best district time this year.
"Her being able to jump in there mid-season and just constantly grind everyday...get in there and work hard...work hard everyday, day in and day out says a lot about her work ethic, her tenacity and her belief in herself. It really meant a lot to me as a coach, especially my first year, to have somebody that would come in on that short of a notice and really just work as hard as she did and really just see such a large improvement. "
"I always keep in my mind that I can do it...I can't stop. Like my coach always told me...he told me never to quit...My job, my school work, everytime I have homework, I have to put in my mind that I can do it, especially if it's something hard. For my anatomy class, I have to memorize a lot of parts and stuff and I tell myself I can do it. Write it down, memorize it, say it, write it down three times each...do whatever to help accomplish it.
Yanette plans on attending Navarro College and majoring in business.
Congratulations to Yanette Diaz of Buffalo High School. This week's News 3 Sports Classroom Champion.
