BRENHAM, Texas -- The Angelina Ladyroadrunners swept Wednesday’s twinbill over the Blinn softball team at Hohlt Park.

Behind a four-run fifth, Angelina took Game 1 8-4 over the Buccaneers before scoring five unanswered runs to take a 5-4 victory in Game 2.

Blinn responded from a four-run third from the Lady Roadrunners in Game 1 with a three-run fourth to tie the game at 4.

Jaiden Rawls slammed a 1-1 pitch over the center field wall to make it 4-2. Following a Taylor Guidry walk, sophomore Allie Piro sent a ball over the leftfield wall to tie the game.

Angelina wasted no time taking back the advantage with four runs in the next frame.

Rawls went 2-for-3 with a run scored an RBI. She relieved starting pitcher Mariah Gibson, who took the loss, and closed out the final 1 2-3 innings, striking out two and allowing no hits.

Guidry was 2-for-2 with a run scored, and Piro was 1-for-2 with three RBI.

Blinn took the early 1-0 advantage in the bottom of the first of Game 2 and carried it until the fifth when Angelina crossed two runs. The Lady Roadrunners made it a 5-1 game in the top of the sixth off an RBI single and a two-run homer.

Avery Mullendore cut into the deficit with a two-run double that scored Piro and Guidry and made it a 5-3 game in the sixth. An Angelina error brought Mullendore home to cut the lead to one, but Blinn couldn’t finish the comeback.

Piro was 2-for-3 with a run scored. Mullendore was 1-for-2 with two RBI and a run scored.

Rawls took the loss after tossing a complete game, allowing eight hits, three earned runs and striking out five.

Blinn (25-11, 8-6 Region XIV) returns to Hohlt Park on Friday for a 3 p.m. doubleheader against San Jacinto.
