Bryan, TX The Brazos Valley Bombers finished the 2013 season, the team’s seventh, as National Champions and set many new all-time records in the process.
G.R Hinsley, a sophomore from Paris Junior College and headed to Texas A&M in the fall, led the way to set the most new all-time Bomber records. Hinsley set a new batting record for runs, along with Brett Kauten, as they scored 42 runs each. Hinsley also broke the record for RBIs, set in 2012, with 55.
Hinsley has a knack for breaking records because his accomplishments do not end there. He also set a new total base record with 139 bases, while managing to tie the home run record, set in 2012, with 6 blasts.
Kauten, a junior from Lubbock Christian, continued the momentum set by Hinsley. In addition to tying the record for most runs scored, he broke his own record by stealing 20 bases this season. Patrick McLendon also broke a record of his own with 232 at bats.
Pitcher Bryce Rutherford, a junior from Cal State Northridge, also is celebrating this historic season by setting a new strikeout record with an impressive 58 K's.
The Bombers would like to thank their loyal fans and sponsors for continued support throughout the 2013 season. With your support, the all-time attendance record was broken with 50,688 people attending the games, which ranked in the Top 20 in the country for all Summer Leagues.
