Terry Lands SLC "Player Of The Week Honor"

PLANO -- For the second time this season, Sam Houston State running back D. D. Terry has been named as Southland Conference football offensive "Player of the Week" Sam Houston State Bearkats have been voted as Southland Conference football "Players of the Week" six times this season. The award winners are:

A senior from Willis, Terry rushed for 253 yards in a 31-18 loss to McNeese State Saturday. The total marked the 11th-best performance in Southland Conference history, to earn him the SLC's Aeropostale Player of the Week honor on offense. Terry rushed 37 times for 253 yards, including touchdown runs of 26 and 12 yards.

His long run was for 40 yards and the 253 yards is the most by an SHSU back in an NCAA I-AA game and the second best day for a Bearkat back ever (McNeil Moore gained 286 yards against Lamar in 1951). His performance was also the 11th best rushing day in Southland history, earning him his second award in three weeks.

Six times this year, Sam Houston State players have earned SLC Player of the Week honors.
