Sooners Claim Big 12 Championship
Reporter: Associated Press

KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- Oklahoma's Paul Thompson threw two
touchdown passes to Malcolm Kelly to lead the Sooners to the Big 12
championship with a 21-to-7 victory over 19th-ranked Nebraska on
Saturday night.
Kelly's 142 yards receiving on ten catches broke the Big 12
title game record of 140 yards set by Kansas State's Darnell
McDonald in 1998.
The 11-and-2 Sooners forced five turnovers. They won their
fourth Big 12 title and earned a berth in the Fiesta Bowl on New
Year's Day. Strong safety Reggie Smith had two of Oklahoma's
takeaways, including a fumble recovery that set up the Sooners'
first score.
The 9-and-4 Cornhuskers will play in the Cotton Bowl on New
Year's Day.
