Bearkats Race By Loyola Marymount

HUNTSVILLE -- Ryan Bright scored 17 points including six of nine attempts from the floor to lead Sam Houston State to a 92-77 non-conference victory over Loyola Marymount Wednesday at Johnson Coliseum.
Jejuan Plair scored 16 points including a layup with 38 seconds to go in the first half to give the Bearkats a 40-38 lead. Sam Houston State never trailed after that, leading by as many as 17 points in the second half.
Sam Houston State (6-3) had four other players in double figures with Shamir McDaniel and C. J. Hadley each scoring 15, James Barrett 13, and Jeremy Thomas 10. The Bearkats hit 59.6 percent from the field (34 of 57) including eight three point baskets.
Loyola Marymount (6-4) was led by Matthew Knight with 21 points and Brandon Worthy with 20. The Lions led 8-0 in the fourth minute of play. Sam Houston went on a 9-0 run to take its first lead. There were six more lead changes in the first period.
