COLLEGE STATION, TX -- The 24th edition of the Crosstown Showdown takes center stage Friday night over at Kyle Field. Fifteen to twenty thousand fans usually make their way to Kyle to see this grudge match. A&M Consolidated has won the last 6 and first year Tiger Head Coach David Raffield has heard a lot about the series and is excited to coach in this school boy grudge match.

"It's pretty exciting," said Raffield Thursday morning. "The thought that the whole town and community gets into it. From what people are telling me the offices are arguing and betting and getting excited about the game. I think if our kids get to be a part of something that 16-20 thousand people attend it's a great experience," ended Raffield

While the Tigers are coming off a 49 - nothing shutout win over Ellison. Bryan barely escaped with a win over still win less Shoemaker last week, but beat Ellison 56 - 7 in the Vikings league opener. Bryan head Coach Bob Bellard is hopeful his team can play to their potential in Friday's Showdown.

"For the last five years our kids have played extremely hard every time that we have gone out there (against Consol), but we have committed a couple of turnovers somewhere in the second half and it has hurt us in the ballgame." said Bellard Thursday afternoon. "You don't want to preach to the kids 'Don't make mistakes' because we won't make any plays. It's kinda a fine line there, the kids need to go out and attack it with aggression, but taking care of the football and turnovers and doing assignments is very very important for this football game," ended Bellard.

Which ever team wins it will mark the first win by either coach in the history of the Crossdown Showdown. Kickoff is set for 7:30 at Kyle Field with the Tigers serving as the home team and sitting on the west side of the stadium.
