LEAGUE CITY, TX -- The Bryan Viking football team won their season opener Saturday night beating Clear Springs 27-17 at Veteran's Memorial Stadium.
The Vikings scored first in the game on a Chris Johnson one yard touchdown run. The Chargers answered the score with a two yard touchdown run by Ryan Thompson. That tied the game at seven.
Bryan got the lead back when Bobby Johnson took a pass from Chris Johnson and went 77 yards for a touchdown. The Vikings pushed the lead to 20-7 when Chris Johnson scored on a 12 yard touchdown run. That capped off the first half scoring.
Clear Springs scored the next 10 points to cut the Bryan lead to three points but the Vikings had an answer. Kevin Jefferson scored on a 27 yard touchdown run to cap off the scoring.
Bryan will open the home portion of their schedule September 9 when they face Round Rock McNeil at Merrill Green Stadium.
