KILLEEN, Texas -- The Bryan Vikings did their best to erase a 17-0 fourth quarter deficit, but came up three points shy and fell to Harker Heights 17-14.
The Knights led 17-0 at the half and after three quarters, and the Vikings offense finally put some points on the board in the fourth. Bryan scored two touchdowns to pull within three and had a shot to tie it, but a 47-yard field goal was off the mark with 46 seconds left.
The Vikings fall to 4-4 overall and 2-3 in 12-5A play. An injury-riddled Bryan squad is now fifth in the district standings, just outside the playoff picture. The Vikes will host Belton, one of the teams ahead of them at 3-2, in a key district contest next Friday night.
Harker Heights improves to 5-3, 3-2 and will travel to play at A&M Consolidated.
