MADISONVILLE, Texas -- Crockett ran through the rain and the Madisonville defense, putting up 19 fourth quarter points in a 22-6 victory over the Mustangs.
The offenses struggled through three quarters, and Crockett losing starting quarterback Dominique Wheeler to a wrist injury did not help matters for the Bulldogs.
Monte Robinson booted a 23-yard field goal on the opening drive for the Bulldogs, and the game stayed 3-0 through three quarters.
The Bulldogs scored the games first touchdown early in the fourth quarter, as Denell Parker ran 20 yards through the rain to put Crockett up 10-0.
Crockett went up 22-0 before Madisonville got on the board. The Mustangs scored to pull within 22-6 and recovered an onside kick, but their ensuing drive ended three yards short of the end zone. Crockett then ran out the clock on the victory.
The Bulldogs improve to 2-1 on the year and host Frankston next Friday.
Madisonville is 1-3 and will visit Rockdale next week.
