BRYAN, TX -- Rudder defensive lineman David Wilganowski is still at Texas Children's Hospital in Houston after collapsing on the field in the Rudder's game against Leander Rouse on September 2 at Merrill Green Stadium. Wilganow was given CPR on the field before being taken to St. Joseph Regional Health Center in Bryan and later transported to Texas Children's Hospital. The game was suspended in the fourth quarter tied at 14. Ranger head coach C.M. Pier said the game will go down as a tie.
Bryan ISD Director of Communications Sandy Farris told KBTX that Wilganowski is in good spirits and is ready to go home. Doctors are still running tests to she why he collapsed during the game. Wilganowski's mother, Susan says the family is grateful for all the support they have had.
The Rudder football team will return to action Friday night to take on Navasota at Rattler Stadium. Kick-off is set for 7:00pm. The Rattlers are 1-1 on the season. Navasota beat Madisonville in their season opener but lost to Willis last week.
The Rangers beat Navasota last season 17-0.
