HEMPSTEAD, TX --The Hempstead Bobcats had two touchdowns called back because of holding penalties, but that didn't keep the 6th ranked team in Class 2A from posting a 28-0 over Brookshire Royal Friday night.
The Bobcats got on the board in the first quarter as Trent Momon (Texas A&M oral commitment) pulled down a 35 yard touchdown pass from Obie Wilder.
In the 2nd quarter Archie Taylor scored from from 4 yards out to double the hometeam's advantage to 14-0.
Late in the second quarter the Bobcats had a 63 yard touchdown run by Taylor and a 30+ yard td run by back-up quarterback Will Smith called back because of holding penalties and had to settle for a 14-0 halftime lead.
In the second half Hempstead added two more scores as they went onto post a 28-0 win over Brookshire Royal and improve their record to 3-0.
The Bobcats will be back home next Friday (9/23) when they will kick off District 14-2A Division 1 play against the Rice Consolidated Raiders.
Kickoff is set for 7:30pm in Hempstead.
