WACO, Texas -- Hempstead stayed perfect on the season with a 21-14 victory over Tatum to advance to the 2A Division I state championship game.
The Bobcats will face Melissa, a 49-36 winner over Muleshoe, for the title Thursday at 8 p.m. at Cowboys Stadium in Arlington.
Hempstead took the early lead on a 64-yard Obie Wilder to Michael Wolfe touchdown pass.
After Tatum tied it at seven Archie Taylor ripped off a 68-yard run to give Hempstead a 14-7 halftime lead.
Trent Momon, a Texas A&M commit, returned a kickoff 94 yards to put the Bobcats ahead for good after Tatum tied it at 14.
