BRYAN, TX -- Former assistant Jason Jolly takes over the Allen Academy football program as the Rams begin a new era in the Texas Christian Athletic League (TCAL).

Jolly says outgoing coach Eddie Luna will be missed. “He was an awesome mentor, a passionate coach, and quite the character.” Jolly will have five returning starters from a playoff squad in 2010. James Brien returns under center, and has two starting linemen and a solid running back in Mason Schieffer to work with.

Schieffer earned second team all-district honors on defense, and will anchor the Ram line. Brien, an all-district cornerback a year ago, will move to linebacker and join fellow returning starter Jacob Clanton.

The Rams will have little time to work out the kinks, as their season opener is also their district opener against Waco Live Oak Classical, a team that went 11-1 last season. Allen Academy’s two other district contests are spread out through the schedule, September 16 against BVCHEA (2-8 in 2010) and October 21 versus Waco Methodist Children’s Home (5-7 in 2010).
