High School Football Preview: Calvert Trojans

Excerpt from 2011 KBTX/Taco Bell Friday Football Fever High School Football Preview Magazine to be available at Brazos Valley area Taco Bells beginning August 24th.

BRYAN -- While the Trojans lose a lot of talent to graduation the players coming back plus a solid crop of key newcomers should help Calvert once again be one of the best 6-Man teams in the state.

Calvert returns just one starter on offense and another on defense, but also welcome back several players who saw playing time a year ago.

The Trojans will be the heavy favorite to repeat as district champion.

Calvert will once again open the season at the Hico Six-Man Super Saturday event. The Trojans draw perennial state power Strawn, and that ballgame should be an indicator of how good Calvert will be early on.

Win or lose, expect the Trojans to pick up experience as the season rolls on and play deep into the postseason.
