The Tigers went through growing pains in 2010 and they plan on using their experiences to snap a three year playoff drought in 2011. Head coach Kyle Hardee says, “We can count on our maturity. These young men have been through the fire.”
13 players who started on offense, defense, or both sides of the ball return this season. A trio of talented running backs are back that will give plenty of needed depth for the Tigers run-based offense. Plenty of offensive linemen and quarterback Garrett Chase return as well.
Defensively, leading tackler Jamal High is back and is the anchor on the line, while Garrett Karr leads the linebacking corps and Ryan Payne heads up the secondary.
Reaching the playoffs is a legitimate goal for the Tigers this season. Buffalo, Leon, and Axtell made the postseason out of the district a year ago, but, on paper, nobody looks to be a dominant team that will run away with things. Centerville has three of their five district games on the road, so improving away from Tiger Stadium (Centerville went 0-5 in road games in 2010) will be key to making the playoffs for the first time since 2007.
