The Lions return plenty of talent to a squad that will once again be in contention for a district championship and a playoff berth. Seven starters return on both offense and defense, and 11 of the 14 Lions earned All-District honors a year ago.
Expect the offense to do what they have done well for years: run the football. Darius Floyd had an outstanding sophomore season and will be back as the Lions big-play threat at tailback this season. Three returning starters on the offensive line should help Mitch Williams get comfortable as the Lions new quarterback this season.
The hard-nosed Franklin defense will be back in full force as well. The line will need some new players to fill holes left by the graduating class, but three linebackers and two defensive backs who started last season return.
The district race should shape up with four teams, (Franklin, Lexington, Rogers, and Thorndale) once again battling for three playoff spots. Look for the Lions to claim one of the postseason berths and get to the playoffs for the fifth season in a row.
