BRYAN -- Jeff Kasowski takes over the traditionally powerful Bremond program for Bruce Brignac, who leaves after one successful season as head coach.

The Tigers lose a lot of players from their state semifinal run, but return plenty of talent as well. “We will be able to count on the experience on the offensive and defensive lines,” says Kasowski, “but we will be inexperienced at quarterback and the skill positions.”

Jacob White, who is making the move from wide receiver to quarterback, has the inside track at replacing his brother Jonathon at QB. Sophomore Cade Grych will also get a look under center. The offensive line will definitely have some size, as 300 pound senior Harvie Steele and 230 pound senior Ryan Garcia return to lead the way for the Tiger ground attack.

Bremond will be most inexperienced on defense, as only White and Zach Hall, who was in on 155 tackles last season, return. The non-district schedule will be rough once again.

Four of the five opponents reached the playoffs a year ago, and Thorndale went 7-3 and just missed on the postseason in one of the toughest 2A districts in the state.

Once district play begins expect the Tigers to contend with rival Chilton and Dawson for the title. Getting to play both teams at home should greatly improve Bremond’s chances at a district crown and picking up the school’s 25th trip to the playoffs.
