The 2011 high school football season is officially underway, and every team has dreams of winning a state championship.

Teams that did not participate in spring football battled the heat for practice, some going the traditional two-a-day route and some opting for one long practice.

Rudder head coach C.M. Pier said, "This is what we do. This is what we love. That's why we do this. Exited to see the kids, they came out with a good attitude and everything so had first practice. It was a first practice."

KBTX's Hometown Heroes football previews will begin on Friday.
