HUNTSVILLE, Texas -- With six starters back on offense and four returning on defense the Hornets hope to navigate what looks like a very strong 18-4A and get back to the playoffs.

Huntsville needs to replace quarterback Daniel Hazlewood, and having three starters back on the offensive line will help. Forrest Reedy, one of the best linemen in the Brazos Valley, will anchor that line. The battle for the new Hornet quarterback will be between juniors Malik Brown and Ryan Bristow. The winner will have a pair of talented wide receivers to throw to in Ricky Bennett and Christain Champine (who missed most the season due to injury).

On defense the line and secondary return two starters each while young players will have to step up to fill the void at linebacker. Making the playoffs out of the eight-team 18-4A will be tough, especially with games at preseason district favorites Brenham and Montgomery.

The Hornets have gotten better as the season has gone on the past two years, and if their young talent can mesh with the solid core of returning starters Huntsville will once again challenge for a playoff spot.
