IOLA, TX -- With 12 returning starters and new head coach the Iola Bulldogs are poised to return to the playoffs in 2011. Former assistant Scott Bishop, an Iola grad, takes over for Roddy McDougald and will have a solid group of returning players to work with.

Eight players are back on offense, led by second team all-district quarterback Bryan Bradford. Heath Barney received all-district honors as a wide receiver a year ago but will make the move to running back this season.

He will have three returning starters on the line and fullback Chase Cammack to help block for him and the Bulldog rushing attack. The defense will return seven starters, led by all-district linebacker Jacob Moore.

The line and linebacking crew each return three starters, while the secondary will be the youngest group of the bunch. District 12-1A looks like a tough one again in 2011, as the Bulldogs will have to battle 2010 playoff teams Moody, Normangee, and Thrall and an improving Somerville squad.
