BRYAN -- Four Brazos Valley high school football teams advanced to the state semifinals of their respective classes Friday night.
In 3A Division II No. 3 Coldspring knocked off West Orange-Stark 35-13 to move onto the state semifinals against either Devine or No. 2 Wimberley, who play Saturday night.
Hempstead beat Blanco 35-12 in the 2A Division I quarterfinals in Bastrop. The Bobcats advance to face Tatum in the semifinals next week. The Eagles slipped past Crockett 34-33 in Athens. Hempstead and Tatum are set to play Friday at Waco ISD Stadium.
In 2A Division II Lexington wins again to set up a rematch with No. 1 Refugio Friday at Heroes Stadium in San Antonio. The Eagles rolled past Arp 47-20 in Waco tonight.
Burton got revenge on defending state champion Falls City Friday night in Buda. The Beavers knocked the Panthers out of the playoffs last season, but Burton cruised to a 55-30 victory this time around. The Panthers are set to take on No. 2 Tenaha next Friday night at Tigerland Stadium in College Station.
