ARLINGTON -- Only ten players from Class 2A schools were selected for the Texas High School Coaches Association Football All-Star game, and Lexington's Chance Sherrill, one of the smallest players on the field, made one of the biggest impacts.

"Everybody dogs 2A. Everybody says we're no good. It's a little faster, a little bigger but i think i did a pretty good job," said Sherrill.

Checking in at 5 foot 8, the shortest on the South team, the linebacker from Lexington showed he could hang with the biggest and baddest the state state had to offer. Sherrill got in on seven tackles and forced a fumble.

"The whole camp everybody was making fun of me saying 'You're so short, you can't do anything, you're so short,' I went out there and did what i could," said Sherrill. "The score didn't happen but i think I had a good game. It was everything I hoped for, I just was just trying to get out there and make something happen and i got it done i think."

Last season Sherrill was the District 12-2A Division II defensive MVP, racking up over 150 tackles.

He will play at Tarleton State next fall.
