Navasota Beats Bellville 24-7 Headed Back to 3A Title Game For First Time Since 1988

WALLER, TX -- The Navasota Rattlers are headed to the Class 3A Division II State Championship game after a 24-7 win over Bellville Friday night at Waller ISD Stadium.

Navasota led 3 -0 after the first quarter and extended it to 10-0 on Xavier Creeks' 2 yard touchdown run. Bellville was able to get on the board and cut the Rattlers lead to 3 on Tyler Thompson's 7 yard touchdown run in the 2nd quarter to make it 10-7.

It didn't stay a 3 point game long though, ensuing kickoff Austin Collins with a 100 yard kickoff return for a touchdown extending Navasota's lead to 17-3.

The Rattler Nation saw the reptiles put up a 4th quarter touchdown on the board courtesy of a 17 yard Creeks run. Xavier had two touchdowns on the night as the Rattlers advance to the Class 3A Division II State Championship game.

Navasota will face Gilmer next Friday afternoon at 4pm at Cowboys Stadium in Arlington after the Buckeyes beat Graham Steers 50-7.

It's Navasota's first trip back to the 3A State Football Championship Game since 1988 when they lost to Southlake Carroll 42 -8 at Floyd Casey Stadium in Waco.
