NORMANGEE, TX -- Normangee returns six starters on offense and seven on defense as they look to make it back-to-back appearances in the playoffs.
The offense could be special if the offensive line comes together. “Our biggest challenge this season is having only one returning lineman,” said Mullinnix.
Dominique Barton did a little bit of everything last season, racking up over 2,300 yards rushing, receiving and returning kicks. He split time at wide receiver and at quarterback, and will probably do more of the same this season with Brenten Ahrlett getting snaps under center as well.
Whoever plays quarterback will have one of the areas best running backs to give the ball to in Colin Reed, who racked up over 2,400 yards and 30 touchdowns a year ago. As good as the offense could be, Mullinnix feels the defense will be the strongest part of his team.
The Panthers should be in the mix to win the district title, but it won’t be easy as Iola and Somerville return quality players and Thrall will not easily give up defending their title.
