BRYAN, TX -- The Rudder Rangers ended their 2011 football season with a 49-21 loss to Elgin Friday night at Merrill Green Stadium.
Elgin scored the first 14 points of the game highlighted by a Te'rel Simmons 43 yard touchdown pass to Aundoy Thomas. Rudder got on the scoreboard when Kody Burton recovered an Elgin fumble in the end zone. That cut the Wildcats lead to 14-7. Elgin pushed the lead back to 14 points when Simmons scored on an 11 yard touchdown run.
Rudder recovered a fumble in the second quarter and returned it 76 yards setting up an Austin Baron four yard touchdown run. Later in the second Baron would hit Brendan Steptoe with a 13 yard touchdown pass to tie the game at 21 but Elgin would outscore the Rangers 28-0 in the second half.
Rudder ends the season 1-8-1.
