ARLINGTON, Texas (AP) - Dennis Smith piled up 116 all-purpose yards, including a 66-yard touchdown reception in the third quarter, as Wimberley beat Argyle 21-14 in the Class 3A Division I state championship Friday.
Smith's only reception of the game was thrown to him in stride by quarterback Brady Lambert.
The victory marked the second state football championship for the Texans (15-0), who used a 76-yard touchdown run by Trinity Wilson in the fourth quarter to increase their lead to double-digits.
Wimberley won the 3A Division I championship in 2005.
Argyle quarterback Austin Aune, a TCU commitment, was held to 75 yards in the first half and finished with 239 yards on 22-of-39 passing and no touchdowns.
His most frequent target was Adam Khan.
Argyle finished 14-2.
