COLLEGE STATION -- The A&M Consolidated football team beat Austin Westlake 35-17 Friday night at Tiger Stadium. The win pushed Consol's record to 2-1 on the season.
The Tigers scored the only touchdown of the first half on a Xavier Jones five yard touchdown run. Consol led 7-3 at halftime.
Westlake would find the end zone in the third quarter. Sean Rollings two yard touchdown run put the Chaparrals up 10-7. The Tigers responded with a 39 yard touchdown pass from Jaylan Cheshire to Josh Stewart to take the lead back at 14-10. Westlake would answer with another touchdown to take the a 17-14 lead but it would be their last lead of the game.
Cheshire and Stewart hooked up for a 23 yard touchdown to give Consol a 21-17 advantage. Cheshire added to his touchdown total with a 28 yard scoring run. Jones capped off the scoring with a 94 yard touchdown run.
Consol will be on the road September 21 to close out non-district play against Lake Travis who is the number one ranked team in Class 5A. The Tigers will open district 14-5A September 28 against Lufkin.
