COLLEGE STATION, TX -- The A&M Consolidated (5-5) Tiger football team will open up the first round of the Class 5A Division One playoffs against DeSoto (9-1) Friday at 7:30 at Eagle Stadium.
The Tigers drew the 9th ranked Eagles in the first round after a 26-23 loss to Belton last week in the regular season finale.
On paper the Tigers appear to be a disadvantage, but first year head coach David Raffield knows the favorite doesn't always win, but for Consol to pull off the upset they will need to protect the football.
"We have to control the football," said the first year Tiger head coach. "Turnovers have killed us when we have had them in the past. The other thing we have to do is line up and hit them in the mouth and get back up and do it again, I think 48 minutes of that gives us a chance."
KBTX Sports will be in DeSoto Friday night and have highlights during Texas Farm Bureau Insurance's Big Game Friday Night @ 10:20 on News 3.
