BRYAN, TX -- After squaring off against each other in the Crosstown Showdown last Friday night at Kyle Field, both Bryan and A&M Consolidated will be at home Friday night.
Bob Bellard and his Vikings didn't have long to feel sorry for themselves with district co-leading Copperas Cove coming to Merrill Green Stadium tonight.
Last week Bryan let a second half lead vanish and knows they have to play a full 60 minutes against the Bulldogs.
"With our team we have to go out and execute our game plan," said Vikings Offensive Coordinator David Beal. "We need to compete for four full quarters and I think if we do that we have a real good chance."
A win by the Vikings puts them right back in the district championship race.
The A&M Consolidated Tigers will also be at home as they host Shoemaker and look to stay in first place in 12-5A after winning their last three games to even their record at 3-3.
The Grey Wolves come in win less on the year and riding a 28 game losing streak. They have come close the last two weeks of ending that skid and Tiger Head Coach David Raffield is warning his team of the pitfalls of looking ahead to a showdown with Cove next week.
"Kids are kids," said Raffield. "They know the other team hasn't won. It's real easy to be lackadaisical in practice or don't have the same intensity in the game. It's kinda been a focal point all week," stated Raffield.
The game will be a homecoming for Shoemaker Head Coach Channon Hall. He played for the Tigers in the mid-90's and served on Ross Rogers staff at Harker Heights for six seasons. Kick off in both games will be at 7:30.
A complete wrap up of the night's high school action will air on the first ever high definition edition of Taco Bell's Friday Football Fever on KBTX. Coverage kicks off at 11:37pm.
