BRYAN, TX -- District play begins Friday night for the Twin Cities' "Big Three". The Rudder Rangers (1-2-1) will be on the road to take on Hutto in a District 16-4A opener, the Bryan Vikings (2-1) will host Ellison in a 12-5A lid lifter, while winless A&M Consolidated (0-3) will host Temple.

It will be homecoming for both the Vikings and Tigers adding to the excitement of kicking off "championship play" at home.

Bryan is coming off a pretty good drumming last Thursday night at the hands of College Park 50-21. It was their first loss of the season after opening up with wins over Clear Springs and Round Rock McNeil.

"The biggest thing is we have to get rid of turnovers, we have to tackle better, we have to block better," said Vikings Head Coach Bob Bellard. "Those are the keys elements that will probably end up winning or losing football games for you and right now we did not do any of the three very well last week in that ball game but we had done pretty will in the previous two weeks," concluded Bellard.

A&M Consolidated is coming off its bye week and it couldn't have come at a better time. The Tigers are winless entering district play for the first time since 2007 when they lost their first four games. Consolidated lost its season opener to Klein Oak at home, then dropped the next two on the road to Cy Falls and Austin Westlake.

"I think it was a great week for us," said Tiger Head Coach David Raffield. "We got a little bit of a break, got to clean up a few things, correct a few mistakes and make some adjustments from the first few weeks and get a little head start on district play," concluded the first year Consolidated coach

The Rudder Rangers played in their 2nd overtime game in three weeks losing to C.E. King 22-16 in triple overtime. The Rangers non-district schedule has been a emotional roller coaster ride with an overtime win, witnessing defensive lineman David Wilganowski collapsing on the field and having to spend nearly two weeks in the hospital to determine he has a unique heart condition, and last week's triple overtime game that saw Rudder unable to put any points on the board after regulation.

"We are making too many mistakes and that is what I told the kids," said Ranger Head Coach C.M. Pier. "We are beating ourselves in a lot of areas so we have got to eliminate those. You can not play good ball clubs and beat them by making mistakes," ended Pier.
